Salary & Compensation
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications, background, and experience level. Entry-level data scientists at Amazon typically start at the lower end of this range and progress based on performance evaluations and skill development. Beyond base salary, you'll receive a comprehensive benefits package including stock options that vest over four years, allowing you to participate in Amazon's continued growth. Performance bonuses are awarded based on individual and team achievements, typically ranging from 10-20% of base salary. Responsibilities
- Extract, transform, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources using SQL and Python to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that inform business strategy
- Develop and validate machine learning models for classification, regression, and clustering tasks, documenting methodology and results for stakeholder review
- Create comprehensive data visualizations and dashboards using tools like Tableau or QuickSight to communicate insights to non-technical business partners
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to understand data quality, completeness, and relationships between variables before model development
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical problems with measurable success metrics
- Write clean, well-documented Python code following best practices and version control standards for reproducibility and team collaboration
- Perform statistical testing and hypothesis validation to determine the significance of analytical findings and model predictions
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and present findings to stakeholders across different technical levels
- Monitor model performance in production environments and troubleshoot issues, implementing improvements based on performance metrics
- Contribute to the development of data science best practices and documentation, helping build institutional knowledge for the team
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent quantitative field from an accredited institution
- Proficiency in Python programming including libraries like NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn with demonstrated project experience
- Strong understanding of SQL for database querying, data manipulation, and working with relational databases
- Solid foundation in statistical concepts including distributions, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and experimental design
- Basic knowledge of machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning approaches and when to apply each
- Familiarity with data visualization tools and ability to create clear, compelling visual representations of complex data

- Experience with version control systems like Git and collaborative development workflows in team settings
